multi-layer pigment transfer and metallic leaf on birch panel

16 x 20 in.

This is one of a series of pieces about the way memories change as time progresses. They are meant to question the role of photography and other visual mediums in that process.

Starting with 4x6 prints of photographs taken during my travels over the past 21 years, I manipulated the images manually and with the help of a scanner. I continued to take apart each image until I was left with the CMYK print separations. I then re-built each imaginary landscape by hand using a pigment transfer process.

The goal of this process was to let play lead the way in exploring the idea of memory degradation and re-assembly.
